Workplace culture

In June 2025, VetTrust was recognised as a Great Place to Work. In the employee survey conducted by Great Place to Work® Switzerland, around 71% said that VetTrust is a great employer. This recognition makes us proud and motivates us to continuously develop our workplace culture and working environment.

Network

With just under 400 employees, VetTrust has a strong network of numerous experts in various fields. Digital tools and in-person interactions create a wide range of opportunities for cross-location exchange, mutual support, and knowledge sharing, whether regarding complex issues, professional topics, or personal experiences. In this way, we promote knowledge transfer, strengthen collaboration, and continuously expand our individual and organizational knowledge base.

Health

Through our workplace health management programme, we support our employees’ mental and physical health. A range of services, tools and support measures addresses different health needs. We also work with an external social counselling service, giving our employees free access to an independent, impartial and confidential point of contact for personal or work-related concerns.

VetTrust Academy

Through the VetTrust Academy, we offer our employees a wide range of continuing education opportunities, from practical training and online courses to the Certificate of Advanced Studies (CAS) in Veterinary Health Care Leadership & Management. We support the targeted development of professional and personal skills, enabling employees to acquire up-to-date knowledge and apply it directly in practice. Continuing education can count as working time and plays an important role in ensuring evidence-based medicine that reflects the latest scientific knowledge.

Continuing education

In addition to the VetTrust Academy, our veterinarians and veterinary practice assistants receive a set continuing education budget and a specified number of working days for external training each calendar year, in accordance with our continuing education policy. This provides targeted support for our employees’ professional and personal development.

Dog-friendly workplace

At almost all our locations, including our Head Office, our employees’ dogs are not just allowed but warmly welcomed. Whether as feel-good managers, security specialists or a welcoming committee, experience shows that there is always a suitable role for our four-legged colleagues. Naturally, they must be sociable and able to spend some time on their own.

Salary and remuneration

Monthly remuneration is generally based on the recommendations of the Society of Swiss Veterinarians (GST). When calculating salaries, we also take into account the cost region of the relevant workplace. Depending on the role, performance-related bonuses, a company vehicle and/or various allowances complement the remuneration package. Employees also benefit from attractive long-service awards, for example CHF 500 on their fifth work anniversary.

Discounts at VetTrust

All employees and family members living in the same household benefit from a discount of around 50% on services at our VetTrust locations. We also offer attractive discounts on medication and materials purchased from VetTrust.

Partner discounts

We maintain trusted partnerships with companies across various industries, giving our employees access to attractive discounts. The offer ranges from mobility, fitness and electronics to pet food, providing a variety of everyday benefits.

Buying additional holiday days

We give our employees the option to buy additional holiday days so they can enjoy more time off. This creates greater flexibility and supports a healthy balance between work and personal life.

Paid leave after the loss of a pet

Our employees receive one day of paid leave when their own pet dies. We want to give them time to say goodbye and grieve, recognising the special bond between people and animals.
